Elementary School at The Langley Fine Arts

Learning in the Elementary grades establishes children's foundational skills in reading, writing and numeracy in an environment that encourages creative risk-taking, cooperative learning and personal goal-setting.

Friendships in the earloy years are developed and maintained in a school climate which emphasizes caring for oneself and each other. Children are taught problem solving and conflict resolution skills and are rewarded for "random acts of kindness."

Arts and academics are equal partners in the Elementary grades, with 90 minutes per week in each of the four disciplines: Dance, Drama, Music and Visual Art. Art specialists and core teachers spend time planning together in search of meaningful integration opportunities.

School events such as Sports Day and trips to the VSO, The Fort, Derby Reach and Van Dusen Gardens help develop school spirit and an emotional connection to your children's learning. At our Town Gatherings, the Elementary classes come together to share "works in progress," set goals and celebrate students' achievements and successes.
