LFAS Student Council meets weekly to discuss, plan and organize activities for the school community. Our goal is to bring the student body together through cultural and extra curricular events in a fun, safe and inclusive environment.
LFAS students are encouraged to join Student Council and provide positive ideas, feedback and help with Student Council activities. We are in charge of, organize and volunteer to help for: theme weeks, school dances, bake sales, multi cultural food day, Easter egg hunts, Halloween activities, and PAC events.
Restorative Action at Langley Fine Arts
Restorative Action (RA) is a model of helping people with conflict to communicate with each other. It does not necessarily preclude another consequence. Every Friday the 40 members of the RA team meet in the LFAS library to learn about how to listen to both parties, how to ask questions, how to tease out assumptions of each other and ultimately to find common ground. Restorative Action invites full participation and consensus, it seeks full accountability for causing harm and to heal what has been broken. This process of restoring harm is positively future directional and asks the question "What needs to happen to reduce the chance of people being harmed in the future."
This training at LFAs also involves a whole weekend retreat away at The Chehalis Healing Centre in Agassiz in the January of each year.
