Video Arts

Motion Picture Arts at LFAS is an award-winning program that encourages students to create and produce their own films. Students are introduced to the film medium in Grade 9 where they form groups and make their first six-minute film. Students learn about all the stages of film production and work with Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premier to create their first product. As well, filmmakers are encouraged to improve their skills in front of the camera and LFAS offers Acting for Film as a junior elective.

By Grade 12 students have studied successful director’s styles, famous acting moments, made numerous films, worked with industry professionals and have entered competitions. The LFAS film program has won substantial awards, scholarships and grants provincially, nationally and on the international field. Look for some of these award-winning films on the LFAS YouTube Channel.
